Have you ever considered how you are living your life? Do you have goals and a plan to achieve those goals or does life seem to just happen to you? Are you proactive or reactive in life? When you haven’t made a plan to achieve your goals, they really end up just being dreams; things you’ve always wanted to do, be or have, but don’t see how they will ever manifest into reality.
When you live your life proactively, you have a plan on how you’re going to achieve those goals. The plan may not go exactly as planned, but with patience, persistence and determination (along with a lot of faith) your goals can become reality. This is the kind of life we all want to live; one where our goals aren’t just pipe dreams, but aspirations that we can actually bring to fruition.
For a long time in my life, I led a very reactive, unconscious life. I had no idea or concept of living in the present moment. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle helped me to understand how important living in the now is to one’s well-being. Rather than living in the now, I was obsessed with things that happened in the past, and lived in fear of what I imagined could or would not happen in the future.
I realize now that I was doing myself a great disservice by living my life in the way that I was. I couldn’t even comprehend that there was anything happening in my life right now that I had to be grateful for rather than living in fear of the future or beating myself up about the past. Once I realized the power of now, it completely changed my life! I learned to release the need to look at the rightness or wrongness of the things around me and simply acknowledge that it is. It also helped me to become more self aware. Living a conscious life and being proactive in all areas of your life compels you to have a better understanding of yourself. I am aware now of the things that trigger me to become reactive, and in a lot of instances, I can catch myself before I let things (or myself) get carried away.
Meditation has been one of the effective tools that I have used in living a conscious life. Every morning, I sit in silence for about 20 minutes. I don’t set a timer or anything, I just sit in silence for as long as I feel I need to, and it helps me to start the day on a positive note. I also use visualization, taking about 5 minutes to visualize how I want the day to go, setting my intentions for the day ahead.
Living a more conscious life mean being more aware of yourself and your surroundings. I am amazed at how much stronger my intuition has become! I am also able to gain clarity on things a lot quicker than I had in the past and inspiration seems to come out of nowhere sometimes. It also means being grateful for what life presents me with right here and right now. I have released the need to dwell on the past or pontificate on the future. I am living in the now and enjoying every moment as it comes!♥
