Planting seeds for success

July 25, 2016 Sandra Dawes

Big dreams don’t happen overnight. Even those things that seem like overnight successes have deep roots that started to grow long before we ever saw the first leaf. The key is to make sure that the soil we plant our seeds in gives them what they need to grow and flourish.

For our goals, it’s not as easy as going to your local nursery and buying quality soil and fertilizer. We need to make sure we have a positive support system and a success mindset if we want our goals to manifest. We need to make sure that the seeds of our goals are planted in an environment that supports our success.

If you’ve gardened at all, you know that plants need care, some more than others. You don’t just plant a seed today and not water it or make sure it gets enough sunlight and hope that they will thrive. You nurture those plants, giving them what they need so that they can grow beautifully. The same needs to be done with our goals. Taking daily action, whether it’s reading a book, taking a course or asking for help; we need to be doing something each day towards the accomplishment of our goals.

Just like a neglected plant will wither away and eventually die, the same can happen to our goals. When we lose motivation or get taken off track for whatever reason, our goals remain stagnant. If you have been working on your goals for a while, it can be easy to get back on track. The longer you ignore your goals, the more work you’re going to have to do to get where you want to be.

This isn’t to say that you beat yourself up for losing focus. It happens to the best of us. The important thing to remember is that it’s never too late to make your dreams a reality. If the goal that you are pursuing is something that is truly meaningful to you, you will find a way to do it, regardless of what’s happening around you. Set backs are going to happen. The key is to stay focused and not allow the unexpected to discourage you.

We have to cultivate our goals. Give them the attention they require; nourish them with positive thoughts, take daily action, ask for help, equip yourself with the resources you need to make them a reality and believe their achievement is possible. Our goals may not happen in the time frame we want them to, but if we commit, persist and remain patient, they will happen when they are supposed to.

What are you doing to cultivate your dreams? ♥
